We are pleased to announce that Kimberlee Riley, President & CEO of The Catholic Foundation of Central Florida, has earned the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®) professional designation from the Richard D. Irwin Graduate School of The American College of Financial Services (ACFS). The ACFS is the nation’s largest nonprofit educational institution devoted to financial services holding the highest level of academic accreditation and its faculty represents some of the foremost thought leaders in their profession. The CAP® program provides the knowledge and tools needed by professionals in the nonprofit and financial services fields in order to help clients reach their charitable giving objectives and also meet their estate planning and wealth management goals.

Candidates for the CAP® designation must complete a minimum of three courses in philanthropic studies at the Richard D. Irwin Graduate School and six hours of rigorous, supervised written examinations. The curriculum addresses the advanced design, implementation and management of charitable gift techniques and strategies, as well as philanthropic tools that include charitable trusts, private foundations, supporting organizations, donor-advised funds, pooled income funds and charitable gift annuities. An elite 1,400 individuals have been awarded the CAP® designation since its inception in 2003.

“The CAP® designation has enhanced my understanding of new models of philanthropy and new practices for socially conscious organizations,” said Kimberlee Riley, The Catholic Foundation’s President & CEO. “The curriculum and courses engaged me with the emerging leaders of the 21st century. The Catholic Foundation is a distinct leader in our region and nationally recognized for its spiritually based and faith-filled philanthropy. I’m looking forward to applying what I’ve learned to further our work with supporting donors in achieving their philanthropic aspirations for self, family and society, and working with our pastors and parishes so that together we can serve our Lord and bring our world to the fullness of charity.”

As President & CEO, Mrs. Riley leads a Foundation that manages more than $57 million in investments on behalf of generous donors, Catholic schools, parishes and missions in Central Florida. These resources provide housing, food, education and health care to people in our community regardless of their race, religion, or ethnicity. The Catholic Foundation distributes almost $2 million annually throughout the nine counties of the Diocese of Orlando.

CAP® graduates are uniquely qualified to bring together gift planners and well-chosen advisors in the common purpose to help families create inspired legacy plans. The Foundation is growing its Planned Giving Advisory Council, which consists of active and talented wealth and estate planning professionals. Additionally, professionals who have earned the CAP® designation help donors improve communities by maximizing the effective application of their financial resources.
